For various unavoidable reasons we didn't finalize our plans until late yesterday afternoon, so their was much scrambling and urgent preparation. Andy and I each had less than 3 hours of sleep before beginning the journey. We changed planes in Atlanta and arrived in Seattle about 12:30 this afternoon. We collected our luggage, connected with the manager of the car repair shop (who agreed to meet us on her day off), and got a ride with Lyft to the repair shop. The car looked great. We could find no flaws with the workmanship.
We decided to first tool on into downtown Seattle to a coffee shop Andy had visited in the past named Victrola. Good coffee, though not as good as Andy makes. Here's a shot of Mount Rainier taken on the way into Seattle:
Before we got to Seattle, an alert came on that said we had low tire pressure. The culprit turned out to be the right rear tire. It had been bugging Norman for a while. He suspects a weak valve stem. We'll check it frequently. Here are a couple of pictures of the car post repair (taken when we stopped to air the tire):
Now here's a really telling picture. Andy is standing in front of the original Starbucks shop in downtown Seattle holding a cup of coffee purchased at Victrola:
This is a shot of the Puget Sound with Mount Rainier in the background:
This was quite entertaining. Andy is intently listening to a heated theological argument on the Puget Sound waterfront in downtown Seattle. Andy later told me that the guy in the black baseball cap had the correct understanding of the Scripture:
Another shot of Mount Rainier on our way out of Seattle:
We drove around for a while and wound up at the Powerhouse Restaurant & Brewery in Puyallup, WA for dinner. In honor of Halloween, the chef made a design out of my onion rings:
At the end of a very long day we've made it down to Kelso, WA where we'll spend the night. We'll begin the morrow with a visit to the Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Vancouver, WA.
Stay tuned!
