Day 4

November 2, 2021

Andy started the day with coffee from the Calistoga Roastery.  Then we had breakfast at Cafe Sarafornia (which was really good).  After an excellent repast, we toured wineries.  We found some excellent wines at Picayune Cellars (which caught our attention because of the name), the Clos Pagese winery,  and at the Castello di Amorosa winery.  We bought wines from each.  Here we are tasting at the Clos Pagese winery (good to the last drop!):

Here we are inspecting the vines (they passed inspection — really good wines here):

The next winery we visited was Castello di Amorosa (Castle of Love).  This castle cost 40 million dollars to build.  Everything is authentic and built with old materials and old constuction methods.  More importantly, they produce really good wines!  Here are a couple of picures of the castle before you cross the drawbridge:

Here are a couple of picutres of us in the tasting room.  The cabernet was especially fine:

It's amazing what some people will do to get a picture!

Here's the picture he took:

They also grow olives on the castle grounds, just like in Italy:

After an excellent supper at Cook St. Helena, we drove down to the town of Napa.  Before retiring for the night, we stopped for a craft beer at Trade Brewing in Napa.

Hiccough!  Our plan for the morrow is to tour a few more wineries in the Napa Valley, then head south.

Thanks for reading!
