The tree stump in my back yard as the water surges ever closer.
The water surges between my garage (which did get water in it) and Reuben Byrd's house next door. I'm certain that Reuben's house flooded.
This was taken from inside my garage, looking through the windows in the top of the garage door.
My banna plant (or what is left of it) is under water, as well as one of the downed oaks. Most of that fence later collapses. You can just see the water starting over my back porch to the left of the picture.
At this point we were getting quite anxious.
I would not have believed that a picture like this was possible. Rueben Byrd's house is now flooded (and so is my garage, to the left).
The driveway is covered, but fortunately the water did not get in Judy Johnson's Mercury, or in my truck.
That's my mailbox as I look out toward Government Street. My house is on Breezy Hill Lane, three houses away from Government Street.
The telephone and cable distribution boxes, and what's left of Reuben Byrd's basketball pole. That was concreted into the ground next to his driveway.
A view of my house from accross the street. My big oak tree is down.
The water starts to recede from my back porch. I thank God that my house was spared from flooding!
I think my banana plant (given to me by my sister, Elizabeth Freeze) is a goner.
